A solid timber overlay flooring system offering luxury, quality, warmth and durability that you can lay almost anywhere though we recommend not laying in wet areas.

Whatever your style, overlay solid timber flooring is a modern twist on the classic tongue and groove. It’s the same beautiful finish, so it adds grace and elegance to any home.

Overlay solid timber flooring has been designed for individuals who want a timber floor but do not have the traditional bearers and joists sub floor designed for traditional tongue & groove flooring. Solid Timber Overlay flooring is 12/13 mm so it can be installed over concrete, old timber floors, particle board or plywood sub floor as long as it is clean, dry and level.

We recommend that the timber is acclimatised on site so that it can adjust to the conditions of the new environment. Following installation your new timber floor will be sanded and finished.

Timber comes in different grades:

Natural/Feature grade celebrates the distinctive markings that occur naturally in timber, like gum veins, insect trails and knots. Natural grade will produce a floor with natural character and rustic charm. The amount and type of natural features in your floor may vary according to the timber species selected.

Select/Classic grade is a grade of timber flooring which exhibits minimum natural features creating a sleek, contemporary, more formal look.

For more information about timber floors and finishes you can visit the ATFA website.

Staining is an excellent method of altering the colour of timber and cork flooring without losing the natural beauty and character of the floor.

Stains enhance and strengthen the appearance of the grain, providing a luxurious and modern look.

There are two different types of wood stains – pigment stain (turpentine base) and fade-resistant stain (spirit base). The main methods of floor staining are tinting, direct staining and liming.

AMR Timber Flooring are experts in direct staining, with the ability to match colours from light to very dark timbers. When direct staining, the stain is applied directly onto the timber, ensuring a quality and long lasting finish. This means that if the surface of the floor is scratched, the colour remains as it has penetrated into the timber.

Tinting is a method of colouring timber, which involves mixing stain into the floor coating and applying it by roller. This gives the floor an overall shade but is not the most effective method of applying colour.

Direct staining is the most effective way to stain a floor, by actually penetrating the timber, not just the top finish. Direct staining requires a high level of experience and workmanship. When the stain has dried, a clear finish is applied over the top. The staining materials are chosen to be compatabile with the top coat.

Liming is a bleaching process carried out before a final finish is applied to the floor. Liming gives the timber a lighter and slightly milky appearance, while allowing the timber’s natural beauty and character show through.

Borders and inlays can be used to define a specific area or convert simple floor into the upscale, top-of-the-line floor. They are the artistic elements which add the completeness to the interior of the premises.

A beautiful inlay or a border can greatly enhance your timber floor and make it an outstanding feature of your floor.  If you are looking for something a little more interesting than the run-of-the-mill timber floor, then look no further. We will take great care in designing and manufacturing a piece of timber ‘artwork’ for your home.

Cork feels soft and comfortable to walk on and yet it’s durable enough to withstand even the heaviest weight and traffic.

Think Comfort.

Cork is ideally suited to the Australian climate, it has natural properties that are anti-allergenic and it’s resistant to insects.

Think Green.

In an environmentally conscious world, cork offers a truly sustainable resource. Cork is an all natural product taken from the bark of the Cork Oak Tree and harvested using a traditional stripping method, so that not one tree is destroyed during the process. The bark re-grows completely within nine years when the cork is harvested again.

Think Easy.

Cleaning and maintaining your cork floor is easy, just a regular sweep with an electrostatic mop, soft broom or vacuum is all that is required. Then when necessary just mop over your floor using Classic Cork Cleaner with clean warm water and a well-wrung cotton mop.

Think Quick.

We offer a full supply and installation service and are proud to supply and install only the finest quality materials. Our wide variety of colours and styles mean we have something that will inspire fresh ideas in everyone. Cork flooring is a high quality, natural material and should be seen as such. Inherent in cork is some shade variation but this is an attractive characteristic of all natural products.

Installation is easy. On average a cork floor can take several days to complete. Floor preparation is the key to ensure a quality finish. Cork can be installed on any clean, level sub floor, however a hardboard underlay is recommended if cork tiles are being laid on a strip timber sub floor.

Select/Classic grade is a grade of timber flooring which exhibits minimum natural features creating a sleek, contemporary, more formal look. Parquetry is a natural timber and is, therefore, not suitable for use externally or in wet areas such as bathrooms and laundries.
