Batten Fix.

A batten framework is glued and nailed to the concrete. New or recycled 19 mm floorboards are nailed to the 35 mm battens to replicate a traditional structural floor. The floorboards are sanded and finished on site. An effective alternative with important planning requirements.

The floor height will be 54 mm so the concrete sub-floor will need to be lowered.

Plank on battens is mainly used in renovations where the client wants hollow sounding floors to match existing 19mm boards nailed onto joists. We apply a moisture barrier onto the concrete slab, fix the battens down, then glue the timber onto the battens. The boards used for this method must be 19mm or above.
